OK, folks... if you're even TANGENTALLY interested in miniature figures & dioramas made using same.... try to find a copy of Amazing Figure Modeler.

This month's issue has a focus article on Sheperd Paine, a man that I consider to be the GOD of making dioramas. Lots of photos of his work that absolutely BLEW. MY. MIND.

Lee's surrender at Appomattox was one of the major awesome pieces he made that was photographed for the article. The lighting effects made it look almost like a photo. Also, he did a Hamlet diorama complete with the transparent ghost of Hamlet's father. (He used a theater trick.... a partially silvered mirror was placed where he wanted the ghost to be in the diorama, and a solid figure of the ghost was placed so it wasn't visible from the normal viewing angle, but the reflection showed in the disguised mirror as a transparent apparition.)
