This is from an assignment I had to put together for class. I misread the assignment a little, and included an open-ended question. I've removed the correct answer marks so you can play, if you wish. :)

1. Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU)
Since 2008, the MCU has a total of 11 movies (The Incredible Hulk in 2008, was not a Disney property at the time). Each of the movies features a single, strong female character. Iron Man featured Pepper Potts; Captain America, and the Avengers movies featured Black Widow; Guardians of the Galaxy featured Gamora; and Ant-Man featured Wasp. These females, however, are conspicuously absent in the marketing merchandise for their respective franchise.
a. Explain how Disney believes it is fulfilling its demographic.
b. Choose whether you agree or disagree with Disney's belief and defend your position using economics, demographics, and correlation values.

2. In X-Men: Messiah Complex, how is the Native American character, Warpath, most frequently seen? (based on Bedrosian, 2011)
a. As a leader
b. As a follower
c. Warpath is not in this story arc
d. As an independent

3. In The Killing Joke, who does the Joker attempt to kill, but merely paralyzes instead?
a. Barbra Gordon
b. Lois Lane
c. Batman
d. Commissioner Gordon

4. What event initially inspired Charles Moulton to create Wonder Woman? (based on Lepore, 2014)
a. His divorce from wife, Elizabeth Marston
b. The life of his mother, Annie Dalton
c. The banning of Emmeline Pankhurst from speaking at Harvard
d. Flunking out of Cambridge

5. The development of the superhero bodies into hypermasculine and hypersexualized objects in the 1990s was in direct response to what? (based on Avery-Natale, 2013)
a. Third-wave feminism
b. A shift in comic book ethics
c. A pure marketing decision
d. The evolution of actual human bodies

6. In which age of comics did Jay "The Flash" Garrick first appear?
a. Modern Age (1985-present)
b. Bronze Age (1970-1985)
c. Silver Age (1956-1970)
d. Golden Age (1938-1950)

1. Marvel's acquisition was done more so that Disney could have properties/characters to market to a Male Demographic, therefore has focused solely on the male character. I think this is a bad idea, since there's probably as much intrest in the female characters by all demographics.

2. as a follower

3. Barbara Gordon

4. his Divorce

5. Pure Unadulterated Marketing

6 Gold

Two wrong, 4 right. Not too shabby for not having seen any of the reports upon which the questions were based!

I'm guessing Warpath and the Moulton Questions were wrong? those were the two I took a blind guess on.

I'm gonna take a guess on 5 and say 'a change in ethics'. I seem to recall that's the era when the Comics Code pretty much ran out of steam, although I could be swapping cause and effect there.

According to the article I pulled the question from, it was actually as a direct response to third wave feminism. I'll see if I can get links for the articles. I downloaded them to my dropbox since they're frequently referenced by me in my papers.
