((So...last night, while playing my Kinetic/SR Brute, Spotify played this classic NIN tune for me:

And it inspired me to write a little short blurb about the character in a very critical moment. A little backstory on the character is in order. Emulus was a vat grown hero from Praetoria. He can absorb and redirect kinetic energy. The problem is that his body absorbs more energy than he can project, so he has to wear a regulator suit to help vent off the excess. With that said, here we go...))

Alarms are screaming in my ears from within this custom made helmet. Cold sweat begins to collect within as the warnings of Vent Integrity Approaching Critical Levels and Deterioration Event Imminent flash across the heads up display. My body is already starting to degrade from the excess kinetic energy and the vents in my suit are having a hard time keeping up with my energy intake.

I climb to my feet, though, and gather my strength. Malta operatives have taken over one of Portal Corps office buildings and I need to stop them and save the people still inside with me.

I catch movement out of the corner of my eye. Where the hell did all these operatives come from?

I begin drawing in more ambient kinetic energy from my surroundings. My guts wrench in pain, but it’s nothing compared to the regret of failure. I dart forward toward my assailants, kinetic energy coalescing around my poised hands. My senses are so amped that I see the bullets leave their barrels and deftly weave my way around them and engage the soldiers in close quarters. Eluding their strikes, my neural pathways are screaming at me to stop, but I can’t; not until the job is done.
The crackling energy of a stun gun catches my attention as more mercenaries approach. Bounding up a wall, I deflect the taser into the face of another of my assailants, causing him to crumple into a twitching heap. In a tangle of Malta operatives, I flow into the rhythmic dance of punch and counter-punch, dismantling the attack force on sheer instinct and fury.

Soon, I stand alone; my body protesting vehemently.

The building shakes and I turn to see the massive suit of Zeus Titan Armor lumbering toward me. Its’ missile bays open up. I close my eyes and mutter the command, “Disable vent safety protocols.” Immediately, the kinetic vents begin to burn my skin as I outrun and outmaneuver volleys of missiles and searing plasma beams, weaving my way behind the lumbering monster. I grasp one of its’ arms as it swings at me and utilize the momentum to flip my way on top of the Titan. My vision begins to blur and my stomach lurches hard as I drive fists wrapped in dynamic force faster and faster into metal plating until I gain access to the inner workings of the Zeus. I see warnings of Deterioration Event!!! Flash across my HUD as I rip and tear into harnesses and onboard computers. The Zeus begins to flail and spin, trying to throw me off, but I’m too well entrenched on its’ back. My flesh feels like it's burning from my bones as I rend through the power source of the Titan. I am almost blind with the pain as I feel the giant begin to falter. After what feels like an agonizing eternity, the Titan finally collapses, throwing me from its’ back.

I clatter across the floor in a heap. As the medi-porter activates, I begin to lapse into unconsciousness and I can barely hear the muffled voices of medical personnel as the world goes black.
