When I first started playing City of Heroes, I bounced from server to server, mainly playing alone on Justice until I heard that Virtue was the 'Unofficial RP Server'. So I moved.
Once I got here, it took a while longer before I met Wild Muse, Templar, and others who would introduce me to The Cape Radio.
At first, I was hesitant to hang out at the shows, because of how tight-knit the community was, but after a while, I slowly became more confident.
It wasn't until I made Nezumi-Ko that things really opened up. Taking her to one of Shecky's shows, and actually having her get invited to hang out, made me feel like I was finally accepted. Shortly afterwards, I joined the Cape Global channel, and the rest is history.
Thank you for making someone who's been an outsider all of his life feel like he belongs.

Special memory: Oh there are tons. One that stand out, at random. Stiletto Heeled Enforcers Summer Beach Bash 2009, Templar's hosting, heroes on Talos Island in beachwear, it's Beach Blanket Bingo, and there are TONS of people there. Maybe 60. Sky turns red. Song ends. Templar comes on and basically says, "Looks like we're about to have World War Z by the ocean. Back to the music." I lost it. Then the zombies came, and Templar - if I remember correctly - cuts in on a song to bring us an emergency broadcast of Thriller. I'm laughing too hard to see at this point, and my computer at the time - an old, banged up Pentium 4 - was letting me fire off a shot about every 15 seconds, maybe. My frame rate was maybe probably below 1 fps and it just made it funnier. Don't get me wrong, there are tons of them, I mean seriously, there are scores of them that I could fill in the blank with. But this one I wrote about long ago and still have a record of, and can look back reliably for reference.
Song: Again, there are tons, but seriously, the theme to Superman isn't a DC property anymore. Is there anyone that's a regular listener of the Cape that doesn't expect to hear the first three words to that song come across as "This is DJ ..." no matter where you hear it?
Advertisement: There are, once again, tons that get me to laughing, but in my opinion, the finest written ad that the Cape has produced is the El Supernatural Mexicano ad. So many jokes, so little time.
Event: Again, tons. (See the recurring theme here?) I think the one that really got me going was the Digital Wastelands event that we did with Kai and Cybrid in the Cape Radio Club. The technical background that had to happen for that event to come off and the perfection with which it was executed was amazing. The average listener heard a seamless show with two DJs sharing the hosting duties, not realizing that they were passing the stream back and forth almost every set and making it sound invisible. Remember, these two are on opposite sides of the continent in different countries pulling this off. It blew my mind then and still does today now that I'm a DJ and understand more about what's involved, probably more so, in fact.
And as far as what makes the Cape MY finest player-run radio station? You guys. You guys rock. Listening to the coolest music on the planet, with the coolest PEOPLE on the planet, is just something that can't be beat. The Cape isn't my favorite player-run radio station. It's the only radio station I listen to. Has been for a long, long time. Will probably continue to be that way for the foreseeable future.

Most memorable moments for me: - Stumbling onto one of Shecky's show shortly after getting onto Virtue, then meeting Templar at one of his shows, but what actually hooked me on The Cape was Uncle Coz; at the time he had a regular show and he did a special show for Thanksgiving... and from there I listened to all the other shows. - Winter Gala 2006: Many people forget that there were three SGs involved; I was part of the third SG, The Kaotix (who ACTUALLY was just going to do a holiday party but was approached by the Angels and White Knights to merge into the Gala) and during the event I watched the listener count grow... and grow... and grow... until it peaked at over 300 listeners and Templar had to adjust the max number of listeners several times to accommodate. Even before becoming a DJ, that made me feel like I became part of Cape history which can never be taken away. - Pheo's ingame wedding... both of them. I saw such an outpouring of happiness and community from everyone it boggled my mind, and still does. - Funniest moment: This occurred sometime shortly after Crypto became a DJ, during a Halloween event; he was hosting a show in Cap Au Diable, near the factory by one of the zone badges (can't remember the name of the badge), and a Zombie Invasion started in the zone. Everyone surrounded Crypto and fought off the invasion doing our best to keep Crypto alive. The invasion ended, the sky then changed from red to green immediately and signaled a Rikti Invasion. Crypto said in Local chat, "I guess everyone is out to get me tonight" and I just started laughing. I think I died three times from laughing, barely being able to see the "Do you want to rez" window. Songs: Pink's "God Is a DJ" has a permanent lyric change for me in the chorus which goes "God is a DJ, his name is Templar..." ; "Battle Without Honor or Humanity" ceased being a song from Kill Bill but rather reminds me of Cyclos; any version of Yakety Sax I hear I just want to start running around like Coz (and Benny Hill, but mostly Coz ); Forget Stone Cold's theme... it's Shecky's theme now. Anything Enigma's made/mixed (song AND ads)... pure awesome. I'll stop there because the list is just TOO huge for all of the catagories Ashes to ashes, DJ Pheonyx

I have been debating what I should do since I saw this posted. That is, should I write about my characters' first experiences with the Cape, or my own? As much as I love writing my toons' stories about such things, for the moment, I'll stick to my memories.
Let's see...I started playing City of Heroes around fall of 2004. Unfortunately, newb that I was, I had no idea about internet radio stations, where the RPz were at, and whatnot. I don't think I really tuned into the Cape until some of the people I was in a SG with at the time became DJ's. Though my memory may be flawed, but anyway. First time I ever heard Templar's voice on the airwaves, I was, as one might imagine, blown away. Man's got an amazing voice (and you should totally be voting for him for the American Gods audiobook part. Hurry! Hurry!). I had the good fortune to get acquainted with a veritable gaggle of DJ's (please don't go thinking I'm comparing you wonderful gals and guys to fowl, though, not at all). Moreover, I've had my ears opened to music that, in all likelihood, I'd never have heard without.
Let's see...memories that stand out, eh? Well...first one that springs to mind is the Freaker's Ball of 2008. That was kind of a bag of mixed feelings, 'cause it was a kickass party, but also a sendoff for the Wild Muse, one of the first friends I made in the game, and one of my favorite DJ's. She came back (YAY!!!), but at the time, it was kinda sad. Another fond memory - every time - every single TIME I heard the intro for the Music Box start to play, I'd start giggling like a maniac, bouncing in my seat, and becoming, suffice to say, quite giddy. Musey. I am your eternal fanboy.
Other things...Ah. Ahhhhhh. When DJ Enigma dedicated seven weeks of her Stream of Subconsciousness to Neil Gaiman's creations, the Endless. I mean, seriously, how COOL was that?! She had all sorts of incredibly well-done costumes, perfect choices of songs...I seriously kicked myself for each of the days that I missed. Not to mention the days of Club Interlude, and Chalet Interlude. Many happy memories there.
Still other things...Ah yes. Heeheehee...I'll tell you, every time I hear "EL SUPERNATURALE MEXICANO!" it puts a smile on my face. It's gotten to the point where I almost have the thing memorized. OH! Oh my. And how could I possibly forget the awesomeness that was "Purple Passion!" I about died the first time I listened to that thing. And then, once again, when I heard the outtakes. Because Posthaste talking at chipmunk speed is just that goddamn funny.
I think one of Jackie's favorite memories is...every time she's ever been to a Coz show and Yakety Sax started playing. Doc Wretched always just loved watching the people interacting at different shows.
I have many, many fond memories, too many to list, and at the moment (as you might guess from the shortness of the list I've provided) too many to filter through my head at the moment. Honestly, I think I've enjoyed every event that the Cape's put on that I've been able to attend. You all do a great job, and I hope that you will continue to do so for many years to come. I know all of my toons feel the same (and not because I tell them so. Nono). Here's to you, you crazy, wonderful people.

Orginally, I started playing on Infinity server my first toon was with The Girls That Rock Supergroup!!! (It was sooo fun and being that I am a girl gamer the name was PERFECT!!!) Eventually, in May of 2006 I found myself on Protector server made lots of friends there; treasures they are. I am still friends with most of them yet to this day. Then in approx. i12 a bunch of us went over to Freedom server for PVP. From time to time I visit Virtue server (When I feel like RP'n.) for a change of pace.
Memories... Well, The Cape Radio and I go way back; I am an active listener. I believe I first started listening in 2005. I do NOT really have a "favorite" memory for anytime I am listening to The Cape Radio or at an event with them I have the time of my life... I lead a Supergroup and encourage our members as well as my friends to tune into The Cape Radio while gaming!!!
I have attended many events/parties over the years. One of the most memorable was a winter event. It was sooo FUN!!! :O) (For the life of me I can NOT remember the year I wanna say it was sometime during 2006-2007.)
Last year I created a toon especially for The Cape's 6th Anniversary PARTY May 28th 2010 her name is: HERE 4 THE PARTY; I created her and went straight to the PARTY in pocket D. She remained there until just yesterday I logged her in and got a few levels then parked her back in Pocket D for the PARTY!!! I plan to log in on her soon; I hope I can get back on the server... LOL I look forward to many more years of gaming while listening to The Cape Radio!!!

I got started with the Cape from a post on a text game I played, about the Christmas tradition of Patrick Stewart's reading of A Christmas Carol, and I started listening after that. Finally joined CoX a few months later after burnout on WoW, and haven't looked back (except for a flirtation after Cataclysm). Probably the best things about the Cape were all the friendly, funny, insane people (DJs and listeners) in the chat who welcomed someone new and made me feel like one of the gang. Or one of the asylum inmates. Next would be the music, so many genres, mashes and mixes and things I never heard and songs I've forgotten and now remember.
Congratulations and much love to the Cape and the Capesters for the last year+. :)

I recall my first encounter with TheCapeRadio.
I was lumbering around Pocket D and I saw all these people dancing... but why?
I danced with them, and I met Detra and Mancrush. Then, when I asked why we were dancing, the URL was sent my way. I turned on Winamp. Music! I made it my business every night to appear and tune in to the shows. We talked and laughed about things, made emotes, and all sorts of merriment.
I can never forget the good times I had there and the people I met. Even while unable to be with you in CoH, I still turn it on.
Happy anniversary to such a bright community.

Let me see. Even though I have not been around for the entirety of the seven years it still has had a heavy effect on me.
I joined CoH to escape the drama that is WoW and was relatively bored. Could not find anyone to be friends with - or anyone to RP with. One day in the D I saw Cyclos advertising the cape. Now I had seen it advertised before, but I always figured it was a scam or something...as ashamed as I am to say that. On that day though I decided to try it to see once and for all. I tuned in and was amazed that it was really. When he mentioned center stage I ran there and that is how I attended my first cape show
Since that time - August of last year I have been a constant listener. I have made many friends and many RP aquaintences. I have my favorites but I like all of you. If it was not for the cape, I would never have been able to join the Justice Girls on Municipal and I would have never known about Kindred Nocturnis on Alcmene. I would never have met so many people to roleplay with and likely would have went back to WoW because I was bored. I even gained 5-6 members for Stormshroud Industries because I met them at Cape shows. I adore you all...and I will be with you all as long as I can pay for CoH. Even then though if I cannot, I will still listen and talk on Yahoo. Here is to 7 more years of awesome!

I can't recall my first DJ, likely it was Posthaste, but I do remember the feeling I get when I make a comment or joke that no one has ever gotten before in my whole miserable life, and The Cape gets it.
This is the cape for me. Having to go AFK to cry cause someone else used 'On The Gripping Hand' properly in a sentence.
The music has opened my eyes and ears so much, that frankly I think if I had to-HAD TO change games I would judge the game not on the game, but it's radio stations.
I love and appreciate everyone on the cape that has made it so wonderful. The tired DJ's passing out while poking SAM with the techno prayer "Work dammit... work dammit... work dammit..." The Street team making flyers, vocals for ads, other things I can't even imagine. And the gang in the chat, of which I am proud to be one. The Punning Clan for which all the Cunning Plans are made.
I'll admit, I'm light on the ground when it comes to family & IRL friends, but I feel everyone of you, and it keeps me warm. Thank you, so much.

I joined CoH around August 2009 (Yeah late to the party here) when I was messing arund with various ideas and pwer sets until I was apprached by smebdy looking to start a new RP SG. Thats when Knockout Avenger was born. It wasnt until later I think arund early ctber late September I heard about the cape radi s n a quiet sunday I tuned in and I heard AUDIO WHIPLASH!
Fave event, well theres been a few but the few that stand out are the ones that make me pull all nighters, such as the AROCKALYPSE and CRUEfest. Special mention goes to the Justice Girls Pink and White gala where I placed second in a CC and the echo party in ouroboros where Detra freaked me out by NOT being Detra.
Fave advert, I like them all but the 2 that stick ut is the Catatonic Catnip Coolers advert (I have a character based on that) and the Nemesis automaton-o-matic mainly because hes exemplfying all the thing I want to be when Im the evil overlord! *insert cheesy villain laugh here*
Also special thanks to DJ Steel for doing that God save the Rock show even though I hated the fact I was late for it (I was sort of caught in a 4 letter w thing I swear)
You guys are the greatest and thanks for accepting one of the few Brit listeners into the Cape community.
