Actor Who Was a Familiar Face in '60s Sitcoms Including 'Green Acres' and 'Petticoat Junction' Dead at 96

A character actor known for his roles on "Green Acres" and "Petticoat Junction" has died, reports the Los Angeles Times. Frank Cady, 96, died Friday at his home in Oregon.

Cady originated general-store owner Sam Drucker on “Petticoat Junction,” where he played the character from 1963-1970. He continued to play Drucker on "Green Acres" from 1965 to 1971, and appeared as Drucker on a few later episodes of "The Beverly Hillbillies," the story notes. In all he played Drucker on more than 300 episodes of the three shows.

In an interview with the Portland Oregonian in 1995, Cady spoke about his roles on the shows, noting, "You get typecast. I’m remembered for those shows and not for some pretty good acting jobs I did other times. I suppose I ought to be grateful for that. Because otherwise I wouldn’t be remembered at all. I’ve got to be one of the luckiest guys in the world.”

In "The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet," Cady had a recurring role as Doc Williams. He also had small film roles, including appearing in Alfred Hitchcock's "Rear Window," the story notes.
