I had an interesting query pop up in my head over dinner tonight.

Okay, first, assume that the Potterverse is real. Wizards, Witches, Dragons, the whole shebang.

Next, assume that in the Potterverse, there are wizards who are into RPGs, like most of us here. (Your typical pen and paper stuff, for those with pervy minds.)

Now then, here's the question to think about.

What kind of RPG's would they play?

Easy. Twilight: the RPG.

Everyone would wonder why Edward reminds them so darn much of Cedric Diggory.

It depends on what they read for fun.

All of the rpg genres that emerged when the pen and paper rpg movement was gaining strength in the 70's and 80's were pretty much based on what young men were reading for fun at the time. Once you know what the Potterverse kids read in their leisure time, you know what they'd like to pretend to be.

Well the Potterverse still presumes the existence of the muggle world, so most RPGs would still be in existence. They might laugh off a few of the magical systems (...even if they are better conceived than the potter ones, but whatever...), but they would still be there. Plenty of us here in the real world play RPGs with questionable scientific bases, so....

But for fun? I dunno, it might fun to watch them do some wargaming (maybe that's more of a Slytherin thing) with 40K or Battletech or something.

Might be funny to see them do something anime based, like Big Eyes Small Mouth; or god, Bliss Stage or something.

Nope: They'd play "Fan-Fiction, the RPG."

"This has got to be the worst task resolution mechanic ever, Harry!"

"I'm not the one who wrote it, Hermione."

"Look, one of you has to make out with me to defeat the pain of sadness and loss monster!"

"Your homebrew systems suck, Ron."
